[html4all] forms task force

Hello 4all (and especially Gregory),

I was just looking over the activity (inactivity?) of the forms task
force. Has anyone laid out the precise issues surrounding XForms or
WebForms 2.0 regarding backwards compatibility with legacy UAs. They
both seem to have problems, but XForms woul be a much more ideal state
to achieve than WebForms from an authoring and user standpoint. For
XForms, I can see that the INPUT element has problems since its
defined as canonically empty in HTML and as containing labels in
XForms. I imagine there are other issues, but it would be nice to see
them laid out on the wiki or somewhere else so that the task force
members (and the two WGs’ members) were all on the same page.

It also looks to me that this could be easily addressed by again
including a namespace mechanism in the text/html serialization
(possibly with a default namespace declaration prefix for
“xmlns:xforms”).

Take care,
Rob
